What is it about? First Parish received UU Green Sanctuary accreditation in 2009. In 2010, First Parish began evaluating how to structure and expand its leadership role in the environmental arena. We began with a name change to the Environmental Leadership Team (ELT). The original mission of the Green Sanctuary Program was to heighten environmental awareness and promote earth-friendly changes within the Parish and in the larger community.

The First Parish in Concord Religious Education program creates a tradition of environmental activism!· The 7th Grade “Art in Action” program this fall included creating the clothesline currently on display in front of the church on the Lexington Road.· This is a great reminder to all as they drive by that of the wide variety of ways to reduce our footprint on the earth. Thanks to Director of Religious Education Pam Howell for creating this opportunity. |

We ‘honor all beings” and work for a greater understanding and appreciation of how we are interconnected with the natural world. We believe that how and where we live, work, play, and pray impact that world and all of its inhabitants, now and for future generations of all beings."
